We are happy to announce that Dr. Andrea Zaliani (Senior Bioinformatician) will present recent highlights of the COVID-19 research at the Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology (IME). His talk is entitled "Rapid identification of ligands and inhibitors of viral proteins using biochemical screening of fragment, lead and drug-like compounds".

ABSTRACT

The presentation will focus on the SARS-CoV-2 proteins and screenings thereof with fragments and repurposing compound collections performed by Fraunhofer in Hamburg since March 2019. up to now. Results from EU-funded emergency project Exscalate4CoV and from internal collaborations will be presented; among others those with Prof. Ciesek's group in Frankfurt and with Dr. Meents' group at the DESY, Hamburg. The highlight will be on the various hitlist produceds in phenotypic assays in different cell lines and on the results which led Raloxifene into Phase III clinic trials in Italy and South Korea.
