Enhancing Phase-Contrast Micro-CT Imaging through Machine Learning

DASHH Doctoral Researcher: Dominik John

Supervisors: Dr. Felix Beckmann (Hereon), Dr. Jörg Hammel (Hereon), Prof. Dr. Julia Herzen (Technical University of Munich)

The project focuses on the enhancement and optimization of quantitative methods for generating phase-contrast imaging data, specifically at the beamlines P05 and P07 of PETRA III of DESY, operated by Hereon. The essence of the project is twofold: Firstly, to extend the capability of this technique to accommodate larger sample sizes and secondly, to enhance the accuracy of electron density measurements in samples examined through Micro-CT while reducing the dose absorbed by the samples. The project addresses a physics-related challenge in imaging while impacting various other fields, including medicine, biology, and materials science.
