DASHH was awarded as a graduate school in the prestigious Graduate School Scholarship Program (GSSP) in 2025 and 2026 by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). This program offers two doctoral scholarships to be started in 2025 for international candidates. Each DAAD scholarship covers a funding period of three years and a potential extension of up to four years upon application.

Since 2012, the DAAD GSSP has aimed to increase the number of DAAD-funded international PhD students from developing and emerging countries in structured doctoral programs in Germany. It also aims to support the establishment and expansion of long-term research collaborations with foreign partners.

Scholarship recipients have the opportunity to complete a DAAD-funded doctorate at one of our DASHH partner universities (University of Hamburg, Hamburg University of Technology, and Helmut Schmidt University. They will also become a doctoral researcher in the interdisciplinary graduate school with a broad offer to extend their data science knowledge, pave the way for their future career, and stay up to date with current research trends. You can expect an international and interdisciplinary research environment with individual support from supervisors in domain science and applied mathematics or computer science research.
