Phase Retrieval (PR) is the task of reconstructing a signal from the magnitudes of its Fourier transform. It most famously arises in crystallography, but has found applications in various imaging disciplines, geology, astronomy, and audio processing. In particular, there are strong similarities between PR in the imaging field of ptychography and in speech processing, and various solution techniques for PR have been developed in both fields independently. The goal of this project is to exploit these similarities to develop novel PR techniques, by combining algorithmic techniques and machine learning, that can be applied in both fields.
