Having graduated from Hamburg University with a master's degree in physics, Laura is now working on her PhD project with a research focus on x-ray-induced atomic processes and ionization dynamics as well as the application of machine and deep learning techniques.
In particular, based on a state-resolved electronic structure framework developed during her master project, the main aim of the PhD project is to extend an existing Monte Carlo algorithm for solving rate equations, so that it enables state-resolved ionization dynamics calculations.
Employing machine learning in combination with the Monte Carlo algorithm will thereby be of critical importance, in order to permit faster and easier calculations.
