October, 2022

DASHH graduate student Ke Li presented two papers at the IEEE International Conference on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISMAR) 2022 in Singapore: "We presented two papers at the ISMAR 2022. The first paper report on the first empirical evaluation of using stereoscopic video see-through head-mounted displays as laser safety goggles at high-power laser laboratories, which is an important application domain largely unknown to the mixed reality community. The second paper proposes a novel sensor fusion technique that could merge different video see-through streams with different latency and resolution. The technique addresses human visual perception characteristics and could help balance the trade-off between limited render performance and the visual quality of stereoscopic video see-through head-mounted displays."

March, 2022

  • The kick-off event of our new series Data Science for Science (DS4S) will take place on March 30th, 2022 at 4 pm. We are honored to welcome Prof. Frank Steinicke (Human-Computer Interaction) as the first speaker of our series which is jointly organized by DASHH, the Leibniz Science Campus InterACt, and the Center for Data and Computing in Natural Sciences (CDCS). His talk is about " B(l)ending Realities – Human Imperfection as Key to the Ultimate Metaverse ". If you want to be kept up-to-date regarding upcoming events, subscribe to our mailing list: https://bit.ly/3hTStBa. If you don't want to subscribe but are interested in the Zoom link of a special event, feel free to contact dashh-office@desy.de
  • We are happy to announce that our new blogging website https://www.hida-blogs.org was launched and after a great first introductory workshop, the first blog posts by young interdisciplinary data science researchers were published. Have a look! You can learn a lot about the life of a PhD student, the challenges of mastering data science as a molecular biologist, computing with light and many more interesting aspects by posts of fellows of the Helmholtz Information & Data Science Schools.
  • Are you also keen on writing blog posts and looking for a platform to publish them? Feel free to contact us (christiane.ehrt@cfel.de). We will provide short introductory sessions on demand and support for the publication of your blog posts.
